I was very excited that it would tour after the revival on broadway, just like Hello Dolly. However, the lead actor was a poor speaker. The music and singing was rousing, beautiful, and sometimes haunting, and I loved it all. We wanted to enjoy the play. Telling of a story that is all too true for Eastern. In total the show is well worth attending. The Israeli actor playing Tevye is astonishing good as an actor and singer - and I've seen Zero Mostel and others play this role. The show was funny, slick an with the right amount of cheesy. Some of the male voices appeared to be outside of their range and low notes were barely audible. The last scene was awkward. I thought the ending could have been much stronger. The blending of chorus voices was non existent with some singers staring notes before others, and others holding notes longer than others and everyone trying to out-sing each other. The Israeli actor that played Tevye was outstanding. When his daughters choose suitors who defy his idea of a proper match, Tevye comes to realize, through a series of incidents that are at once comic and bittersweet, that his children will begin traditions of their own. Tevye was too young for the role. Singing and dancing were fantastic fun and the whole thing was very enjoyable. This production was great and I highly recommend it. Prices are subject to change.
