The story tries desperately to balance his cruelties with his kindnesses–the times he thinks of Kazi's happiness, the way he suddenly reverses his feelings on refugees and begins sending them supplies instead of trying to remove them from his land.
As I read an ARC and have seen that there are less pages in the final copy, I can only hope that some of the unnecessary filler was eliminated. Dance of Thieves really lives up to its name along with the Remnant Chronicles hype. I can't even begin to explain how much I've missed this world and our old characters. I love how even more than TRC, Dance explores the time just after the devastation of the world. After losing his family to "the greatest flood Rome has ever known, " skilled white Italian swimmer Leo Danieli would never have expected that in his darkest moment he would be drafted by the European Space Agency to attend the International Space Training Camp, where teens will train to terraform and colonize Jupiter's moon Europa for human settlement. Together, they continue to play a cat and mouse game of false moves and motives in order to fulfill their own secret missions while trying to stop themselves from falling for each other.

There is an ominous warning on Jase and Kazi's journey back, and they are attacked before they can even set foot in Hell's Mouth. That Kazi and Jase are morally ambiguous is not surprising–they are the titular thieves. I was really looking forward to getting back into this world ever since the Remnant Chronicles became one of my most favorite series in the whole world. Thank you so much for reading and loving them. I would've finished it in one sitting, rather than two, had I not also been reading other books simultaneously, ugh. Re Read #2 with Naomi and Héloïse 💖💖. He can punch as many people as he wants as long as it is in service to the family or in retaliation for violence they committed. They were also cringe and were kissing at the weirdest moments and being weird💀. Plotwise speaking, I had a bit of trouble getting back into this world, but it took me only 50 pages or so to build up a rhythm and enjoy the world building with all the geography and politic intrigues it came. Besonders begeistert bin ich vom Schreibstil der Autorin. We largely see this play out through her relationship with Jase, whom she constantly goes back and forth with trusting. I felt like I was in school again:) but it made for a very consistent language. I MISSED THEM SO MUCH 💗. Jase, meanwhile, has to make the hard choices to keep his family's dynasty running. Even in the dim light, I was able to see the worry in his eyes. Review and rating to come. So my average rating would be 4. I can't wait to read the next one!
And Lia is probably one of the best female characters ever created! I thought the beginning was a bit too instalove-y, but it sure didn't feel that way by the end of the book. No, Kazi, in here, what do you feel in here? The clash between kingdoms, and rival rulers was excellent if not a tad predictable which is why I downgraded to a '4'.

I'd highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys high fantasy worlds, great romance, addictive plots, secret missions, and thieving characters. They did not deserve mercy. How am I to wait an ENTIRE YEAR???! Kazi is very much the pinnacle of YA heroines that I enjoy reading about. I ship them sooooo hard. I thought it would be exciting or twisty or cliffhangery but nope. Die Geschichte startet turbulent, abenteuerreich und unerwartet. I think Mary does action and mystery very very well, and this book has plenty of both, but OH, the romance.
