Customers can upgrade their machine to the B 770 QE PLUS for $599. I should have just stayed with my Bernina 1080 and saved myself a lot of frustration. The BERNINA 750 QE includes a meticulously-engineered extra-long freearm with ten inches / 254 mm of space to right of the needle plenty of room for large sewing projects.
I found it less cumbersome than the Janome AcuFeed, meaning I could see more on the plate of the machine and nothing was in the way. I have my serger (aka overlocker) for finishing woven seams and constructing knit garments. Why was bernina 750 qe discontinued model. Frustrating machine. Have never found a sewing machine so difficult to use. I'm using this online video series to periodically refresh my knowledge. And, although I had fun using many of my decorative stitch patterns on my crazy quilted Christmas tree skirt project, I don't use decorative machine stitches often enough to need 557 different decorative stitch patterns to choose from.
Please check out the other installments of Sewing Machine Adultery. This machine is unfit for purpose. Easy to engage when needed, the BERNINA Dual Feed tucks completely out of the way when it s not. Haven't had any complaints in the 2 years since. The quality difference between the B 530 and my Brother was immediately noticeable and my sewing practice really exploded. Esther's Design Blog: I'm going to "have to learn" to love it...somehow. Among the new products is the BERNINA Crystal Edition machines that come equipped with the new embroidery module with BERNINA Smart Drive Technology that will elevate the embroidery experience with enhanced stitch quality and up to 55% higher embroidery speed. You can login or register here to leave a comment or a user review. The innovative BERNINA Dual Feed tames hard-to-manage fabrics. These are the kinds of features that make the 830 so expensive, but I'd rather buy a machine for half the price that has only the features that will make a difference in the kind of sewing I enjoy. As far as Bernina goes, I know it's a quilters favourite machine, so my experience has been a great surprise and disappointment and I really thought I was purchasing the best machine in its range.
The "throat" (the span of working area from the needle to the right end), as others call it, is 10 inches long. I'm considering an upgrade and wondering how quilter's like this machine. I'm really surprised at that as I was looking forward to using it. So, what would I be giving up when I went from a previous top-of-the-line to today's mid-range machine? 250 decorative stitches.
Loved that when you lengthened a stitch it actually visually lengthened on the screen! The dealer I purchased it from kept trying to tell me there wasn't a problem, that I was too picky! It's a big deal to fork over several thousand for one machine. Had it to repair shop 4 times. Kay PS, I'm in two minds about buying used, because if I buy new I understand I get a 10 year warranty. Customer service has been very good on the couple of occassions I have needed some advice. The Free-Hand System (FHS) / Presser foot lifter lets you raise the presser foot and lower the feed dog with your knee. The Small embroidery hoop (for normal use / free-arm embroidery) is a whiz at embroidering tubular items such as sleeves or pant legs. And I don't need a walking foot! I've had my 750 QE for two years. Why was bernina 750 qe discontinued in 2020. Follow BERNINA on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. It is my belief that a great dealer and tech is of utmost importance with any brand TOL computerized machines.
So, I decided to upgrade to the B 770 QE. As far as I can tell, the only things I'd lose would be some decorative stitches (the 750QE has 250 decorative stitches to choose from, whereas my current Artista machine has 396 decorative stitches), the sideways-motion stitches (another really cool feature on my current machine that I never, ever use), and the ability to edit embroidery designs at the point of stitch-out, right on the screen on the sewing machine. It now balls the thread and quits whenever it feels like it. Update 2: December 2014: This Bernina post was one of my first posts about this sewing machine. Here are photos of some I tried below: Here is a closeup of the stitching, the software settings allow you to really tailor your stitch so that it can end up so close to the edge of the fabric. My only downside when unpacking it was I spent 30 minutes looking for the stylus only to find this was an optional extra! Has Bernina resolved them. The machine comes with a detachable extension table which I found flimsy. The 820, I am devastated to report, is not that machine. Reverse pattern foot # 1D. Why was bernina 750 qe discontinued in the united states. Sewing Experience Level: Advanced. I just wish this machine hadn't happened to me. I have always loved this feature on my own Bernina. 6 weeks later it comes back with a bill for $500 and a report that it.
Finally, I'm crying lemon, my experienced, talented repair guy at the end of his resources so we send it to Bernina. What else am I going to have to deal with, fix and get right before I can experience a SINGLE HOURS enjoyment on this machine? Is the 750 discontinued, if so can you get updates and for how long? Fabric is fleece, pattern purchased from Sinplicity. The indentation in the sole of the presser foot allows it to glide smoothly over dense stitches. Location: The Colony, TX. Soon after was when Bernina announced the needed fix. Wish I had gotten a Janome (. 8 feet isn't that much considering what other manufacturers offer at this price point (see Janome and Babylock).
The presser foot down is automated by a button. The middle of the hand wheel cracked in 2 places. I would absolutely love to own the 890, but that's a cost my budget and I can't get behind. The dials added speed which is key when scrolling through so many features! A shiny new sewing machine to learn and play with would really help to take my mind off the blazing inferno of candles on that cake... ;-). Discontinued model prior to release of SDT module). Depending on the model, Buttonhole foot with slide # 3A determines the desired buttonhole length for identical buttonholes either via a sensor or manually. There was a deal to purchase this machine and get either the L 460 or the embroidery module for free. I am not sure if the webinar are mostly embroidery or not but if you sign up you get notified on all. I say unfortunately because the module doesn't come with the standard accessories and needs to be purchased as an upgrade. The larger harp is also what enables the 750QE to embroider a wider design in one hooping, since the entire width of the embroidery hoop is to the right of the needle when the machine is stitching the left edge of the emrboidery design.
Key features of the B 750QE: - The harp is much larger than my current machine, which means there are three more inches to the right of the needle, more room for cramming a large bed quilt to the right of the needle so you can quilt the center. Effortless free-arm embroidery. Contact the sponsoring shop beforehand to see if you can coordinate the use of a machine you'd like to try. I really love this serger. The day after it was returned to me two screws fell out!!!!
The BERNINA L 860 is the newest member of the L 8 series. It has been fairly easy, though the manual could have been done better, IMO. You've got to sit down and sew before you really know the machine. Adjusting the tension to accommodate any thread except regular sewing thread is a nightmare, I get messages saying the thread is broken when it's not. I'm also downsizing so this was the machine supposed to replace all my machines (11 of them) and I was planning on quilting on it as well as it has a lovely bigger arm and great lighting. Zig zagging on the wide 5mm setting is truly awful... bunches up any sort of fabric, a problem which no one seems to be able to solve. They come in small, medium & large. Also I don't need to buy an overlocker as the overlocker foot 2 does a good job! It seems to get stuck and pulls the needle, then it hits the plate and breaks. There are so many little annoyances which I'll just have to grow to love. Should have done more research!
Whether you love or loathe being in the kitchen, our community of reviewers have determined that out of over 9, 000 appliances on, these are the best available! I have a girlfriend that's gone through almost the same kinds of problems as you, except with a Pfaff machine. Combining the two best hook technologies, the B 9 Hook is patent pending. Catches threads all the time - knots etc....... Had it in the shop for 5 months while the technician went back and forth with Bernina headquarters. I had some problems figuring out how to disengage this feature but again, that is something that would be overcome with familiarity in the machines use. I expected so much better than what this machine delivers. You can barely see it in the picture below and would be awesome for applique!
