If it is a Smart Alternator you'll probably have to run two wires from trailer to starting battery, connecting to both pos and neg terminals. Many times an alternator is not working properly because of poor electrical connections in the charging circuit. Alternator not charging at idle time. But it will be bad news if you don't do it well. If that works, then the IAC should be working fine. Also, the lights dim or go off once the items leak. The alternator's current output (the number of amps it produces) should also be tested.
Thanks for letting us know. You'll also know the signs to help you know if the alternator isn't working. That's a little different than not charging. Alternator not charging, not the typical thread. With the lights/heater off voltage is about 13-13. As a result, the alternator won't be able to charge the battery until the wire is repaired or replaced. I'm going to head to an alt rebuild shop this weekend and see how much they'll charge me to rebuild one, hopefully it's not an arm and a leg haha. Goes up to over 13 volts if I push the gas pedal.

In this regard, the engine control unit (ECU) controls most of the car's electrical components. I'm trying to determine if it's marginal or broken. If everything looks good there and you feel you don't have enough knowledge to make a proper diagnosis, it's time to take it in for service. Most alternators fail electronically long before they wear out mechanically. Did you happen to clean out the throttle good during the rebuild? Alternator not charging at idle motor. When I turn the a/c on brings the idle up to about 600-700 but the alternator seems to be charging at that idle, the voltage reads out at 13. 76V is MUCH too low.
In the HPT logs from last night, the voltage shows about 13. So, there are chances that the event will burn your alternator. So "deactivating" the alternator at WOT is either operating as designed (by GM), or possibly operating as tuned by your tuner. Guy went to that shop, not me). Diagnosing an alternator that won't charge.
Second is the regulator is part of one of three modules, ECM, BCM, or PCM. We don't know whether the battery is charging or not. Engine control module error. Car is a 2000 Firehawk, SBE LS1, TFS heads, Huron Speed APS style TT kit, dual Hellcat pumps, small aftermarket stereo setup. You probably have worn brushes in the alternator. All alternator diodes should function for a smooth current flow. A wrong command from the ECU is enough to stop the alternator from charging. See Also: Code P0562 (low voltage). That is almost always caused by the alternator belt being loose. Alternator is not charging. If too high, it might not be. No checks with the alternator on the vehicle produced any solid diagnosis. At WOT, the voltage drops down, HPT shows mid-low 11volts. Last year iirc I was having charging trouble. What kind of OBD-II device do you have to use with HP Tuners?
Now that I think about it, these alternators may be turned on by the PCM at some RPM threshhold, or on a timer after starting, but I don't think it'll turn off, even if the PCM goes open circuit (no voltage supplied) on that terminal at the alternator. This computer manages the alternator as well. You will find one big main cable together with two or three small ones. Then it blew up one of. Check the ground cable between the engine and the body. Also, the voltage does change with temperature.
My prediction: Have the unit tested, but it has the hallmark of a bad diode in the bridge - especially the flicker. 5 volts at idle in neutral. There are certain models of car which have alternators dependent on a particular fuse or fusible link to operate. The belt and pulley produce the mechanical power which gets converted into electrical energy by the alternator. 5 to 2 volts higher than battery voltage. Let your mechanic handle the process. Left the camp with a 80 percent battery and it charged it back up to 100 percent during the drive. Join Date: Feb 2021. Then it makes good voltage at all rpm's even idle. Here's another check few technicians do, but it's one that can easily detect bad diodes in an alternator. What year is your vehicle? If this right after starting, it certainly is charging and that could be sucking a bunch of power.
I purchased 3 of a guy that was wrecking '96 ers and that has got me out of trouble, also bought the PCM, sensors and fuel pumps off him. My girlfriend finds this a nuiscance during the winter when she does not want to get in to bump the throttle when the vehicle will be warming up on cold mornings. In cases where the powertrain control module (PCM) controls voltage regulation, a problem in the voltage regulation circuit means the PCM will have to be replaced. New car application alternators were placed in layer in a large metal wire basket to be shipped to various assembly plants. Strange world ain't it,,, 2015 FR Freedom Express 310BHDS pushing a 2014 GMC Sierra CC. Here's a google video... not mine but gets the point across. It would be good to have one that produces more output because I added the Renogy and the LifePo. But the few diodes will convert fewer currents and die out.
What you're saying is true about the voltage but 14v won't charge a low or weak battery And run the car And keep the radio working. Is there a fuse for the alternator? But what we noticed was that when in drive at idle w/o ac on that the battery wasn t being charged but was actually being discharged with negative amperage. Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. The PCM harness has two power input ring lugs on the starter post that lead to some kind of fuse/relay/power distribution piece that has the fuses and relays for most of the PCM related wiring.
